- Communication data: Messages exchanged between members on the platform.
- Payment data: Subscription and payment information processed through our payment gateway partners (we do not store full card details).
- Usage data: Pages visited, profiles viewed, searches performed, device type, browser, IP address, and session timestamps.
- Location data: City and state as entered in your profile; approximate location if you grant browser permission.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and maintain your matrimony profile.
- To match your profile with compatible profiles based on your preferences.
- To enable communication between members who have expressed mutual interest.
- To verify your identity and ensure a safe, authentic community.
- To process subscription payments and send receipts.
- To send service notifications, account alerts, and (with your consent) promotional communications via email, SMS, or WhatsApp.
- To improve our matching algorithms, features, and overall user experience.
- To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or security incidents.
- To comply with applicable Indian laws and regulations.
3. Information Visible to Other Members
Your profile information is shared with other registered members of 96K Matrimony. Specifically:
- Always visible: Name, age, religion, caste, city, state, education, occupation, and profile photographs.
- Visible after interest/contact: Mobile number and email address are shared only with members you choose to share contact with or after a mutual match (depending on your subscription plan).
- Blurred for free users: Certain details of profiles that view you may be blurred until you upgrade to a paid plan.
- Identity verification documents are never shown to other members.
4. Cookies and Tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to:
- Keep you logged in across sessions.
- Remember your search filters and preferences.
- Analyse platform usage through tools like Google Analytics (anonymised).
- Serve relevant advertising on third-party platforms (you can opt out via your browser settings or the relevant ad platform).
You can disable cookies in your browser settings; however, some features of the platform may not function correctly without them.
5. Third-Party Services
We use trusted third-party services to operate the platform. These include:
- Supabase — database and file storage (profile photos, documents).
- Razorpay / Stripe — payment processing. Their privacy policies govern how they handle your payment information.
- Vercel — web hosting and content delivery.
- Google Analytics — anonymised usage statistics.
- Twilio / MSG91 — OTP and SMS delivery for phone verification.
These partners are contractually obligated to handle your data securely and only for the purposes we specify. We do not sell your personal data to advertisers or other third parties.
6. Data Retention
- Your profile and account data are retained for as long as your account is active.
- If you delete your account, we delete your profile, photographs, and personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., transaction records for GST compliance — retained for 7 years).
- Chat messages are deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
- Anonymised analytics data may be retained indefinitely.
7. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including:
- HTTPS/TLS encryption for all data in transit.
- Passwords stored using bcrypt hashing (we never store plaintext passwords).
- Role-based access controls restricting staff access to user data.
- Regular security reviews and vulnerability assessments.
Despite our best efforts, no internet transmission is 100% secure. Please use a strong, unique password and do not share your login credentials with anyone.
8. Your Rights
Under the Information Technology Act 2000 and applicable data protection norms in India, you have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: Update inaccurate or incomplete information via your profile settings.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and personal data.
- Opt-out: Unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time via the link in our emails or by contacting us.
- Portability: Request an export of your profile data in a machine-readable format.

9. Children's Privacy
Our platform is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a minor has registered, we will delete their account immediately.

When we make material changes, we will notify you by email and/or by posting a prominent notice on the platform at least 14 days before the changes take effect.
